Connecting Hearts Abroad

As a global health care company, we're convinced we must get out of the labs and from behind our computers to understand and meaningfully contribute to the world around us. That's why we launched Connecting Hearts Abroad in 2011. Through this company-paid volunteer program, we are dedicated to improving lives for people in need and expanding the worldview of our employees.

Every year, we select at least 100 employees from all levels and functions of the company to serve as ambassadors. They provide hands-on support in impoverished communities with a focus on improving health, providing care for children and the elderly, teaching, and community development.

Since 2011, Lilly employees have contributed over 70,000 hours of service in over a dozen countries. On their return, our ambassadors share their experiences with other Lilly employees, creating ripple effects that ultimately make us a better, more globally aware company.
