Who We Are: Meet a Lilly Engineer

In the latest video from our “Lilly Manufacturing: Who We Are” series, Dedric Day describes the moment he realized his mother was using a medication he packaged as a Lilly employee – and why that memory drives the excitement he has to come to work every day:

Day’s organization is responsible for the safety aspects of the manufacturing of insulin at Lilly. As an engineering manager, he ensures the people who work in the environment, as well as those who live around the plant sites, are not exposed to chemicals used in the manufacturing process. Through collaboration with many teams – including quality, health and safety, environmental, tech services, maintenance and reliability – Dedric and his fellow engineers make sure that the people taking their medicines receive the same exact product every time they go to the pharmacist.

Our manufacturing process is not just about the medicines we make, but also about the people who work at Lilly and their goal to make life better. To learn more about our quality standards, check out the other videos from Lilly designers and investigators.
