First and foremost, we hope all our LillyPad readers -- along with your friends and family members -- survived Hurricane Sandy. Our very best wishes to everyone affected by the storm.
Over the last few weeks, Lilly has been the fortunate recipient of some nice recognition in the area of diversity. We haven't discussed these honors quite as much as we had hoped on LillyPad, so following is a quick rundown:
- Earlier this month, Diversity, Inc. named Lilly a "Top Company for Working Families" based on our work-life programs. Lilly, in fact, was cited as a model for other companies in the area of workplace flexibility. You can learn more about the Diversity, Inc., recognition in our press release on Lilly.com.
- Out & Equal -- an organization that supports workplace equality for LGBT employees -- named Lilly a finalist for its Workplace Excellence Award. The award recognizes companies that have an ongoing commitment to workplace equality (demonstrated by unquestioned leadership, dedication, and innovation on behalf of LGBT employees). Google, Whirlpool, and Boehringer Ingelheim were the other finalists (the award winner will be named Thursday evening). For Lilly, it's a tremendous honor being named a finalist with the other three companies.
- Work Life Matters Magazine has also recognized Lilly as a top company for LGBT equality. This is the second year the magazine has compiled such a list, and Lilly's first appearance. The company will officially be recognized in December.
Workplace and supplier diversity have become top priorities for Lilly. We're thankful that the true experts believe we're on the right path.
