Over the course of the week, LillyPad had the pleasure of sharing the stage with diabetes advocates about the importance of promoting policies that support better health outcomes for those affected by the disease. Today’s LinkPad continues the theme by highlighting some of the other health care awareness and advocacy events taking place during the month of November.
- The month of November also marks National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month. The Alzheimer’s Association outlines a number of easy ways that people can take to take action and raise awareness about Alzheimer’s Disease throughout the month.
- In honor of National Family Caregivers Month, the American Society on Aging emphasized policies that support the contributions caregivers make to families and communities and issued recommendations that each individual can undertake to strengthen advocacy and education efforts.
- Over the last 6 years, Movember has provided an opportunity for men across the country to pass on the razor and cultivate their best moustache to bring awareness to prostate and testicular cancer.
Awareness and education about the challenges facing health care serve as the first step towards developing the health care system that can meet and solve these challenges. We applaud the efforts of the diabetes, Alzheimer’s, prostate and testicular cancer, and caregiver advocacy communities for all their work to raise awareness and generate political will around these vital health care issues.
